Equity Editors Association members hold graduate degrees including, but not limited to, MD, PhD, MPH, RN, and/or MSc, and have publication experience in their respective fields. They are committed to high-quality publication and communication of scientific ideas and technologies.
Each company has its own screening process that you will need to complete to be hired as an editor. Some companies may have a trial period before you are accepted as a full editor. EEA membership alone does not provide editing opportunities.
Depending on the company you are editing for, there may be a training system to help you familiarize yourself with the editing guidelines and standards for the company. In general, you will be expected to perform the edits without consultation with another editor. Each company will have a mechanism for quality assurance and will provide feedback if necessary.
Each editor sets their donation from anywhere between 1-100% of their compensation. As such, EEA membership only minimally affects an editor's income unless the editor chooses to donate a larger percentage of their compensation.
The benefits of EEA membership include:
1) membership in a professional association of other top-notch, socially conscious editors
2) ability to earn an income while contributing to global health efforts
3) flexible hours with work and service that can be done from home or anywhere else
No, you must select a single beneficiary from among our pool. This is done so as to maximize your impact and simplify accounting.
You can change this at any time by contacting the for-profit partner.
The beneficiaries that EEA support are required to be transparent, open-source organizations that provide online accounting of their project activities and budgets. For more details, see the beneficiary page.
