Improving
Biomedical Writing, Funding Biomedical Equity
EquityEdit is a team of scientists and scholars from elite institutions in the United States and Europe who edit and translate biomedical manuscripts. The compensation they earn for this work then goes to fund small, innovative, pro-poor global health organizations. We meet the high demand for technical editing services for medical research articles, and simultaneously raise funds to make use of this research through public health programs in poor countries. Our current beneficiary is Nyaya Health. Our current for-profit partner is ProEdit Japan.
How does EquityEdit work?
EquityEdit provides a mechanism through which young
scientists and scholars can earn income, improve the quality of the
biomedical literature, and contribute to reducing global health
inequality. Editors edit biomedical articles written by Japanese
scientists who need to improve their English writing. All revenue
generated by EquityEdit is donated directly to Nyaya Health.
ProEdit Japan, a
for-profit company, provides compensation to EquityEdit editors on a
per-word basis.
Editors then donate anywhere from 0-100% of their compensation to
Nyaya. Regardless of this percentage, ProEdit donates an additional 5%
of the revenue of each order to Nyaya. Editors can edit as many
or as few manuscripts as they like, typically between one every few
months to ten a month.
How much has EquityEdit raised so far?

Current number of
EquityEdit editors: 41
